Sonic
Babe Of The Month - October 2005
Name: Jane Erik
From: Hollywood, CA

What made you get into Rock N' Roll?
I had always been musical since age 5, playing the piano/organ.
My brother introduced me to rock n roll playing me classic rock
and metal. I also listened to soul, blues and lots of British Invasion.
This inspired me to sing thus forming a band at age 13. We just
jammed and played around but I felt fulfilled creating and playing
with others. Music can really inspire and move an individual. I
know I've seen a good show when I want to go home and write a song.
What was your
first rock concert and what was the experience like for you?
An
Aerosmith/Skid Row concert in Philadelphia. I remember Steven
Tyler's endless energy and Joe Perry rocking out on the guitar.
They were just on it the whole time, having fun but interacting
with the audience and just spreading a
positive vibe.
What is your five all time
favorite albums (CDs)?
"Love" by
the Cult, "Violator" by Depeche Mode, "Sticky
Fingers" by the Stones, "The White Album" by
the Beatles, "Electric
Warrior" by T. Rex and the list goes on and on...
Who are your five favorite bands?
Beatles,
The The, Rolling Stones, T Rex, The Doors, David Bowie, The Cult,
Ramones. Ok, that's 8!
What is your all time favorite song and why?
It
changes and there are many. I love Under "The Milky Way" by
The Church. This sticks out in my mind for some reason. I love
the bass line, the guitar just kind of draws you in and it's
haunting. Lyrics are simple but strong. I have favorites from
classic rock, metal, punk, soul, 60's etc. "Angie" by
the Stones always makes me teary-eyed.
Do you play
an instrument? If so, what & how long? Also are
you in a band, who is it?
I sing,
play keyboards, bass, drums and I'm still new on guitar. I
have a band called Jane Erik.
If
you can go back in time, who would you like to have seen perform
live?
The Doors
If you could put the ultimate
rock show together with three bands, who would it be? Ideally,
it would have been The Rolling Stones, The Beatles & David
Bowie.
Do you think there's any bands
out today can make rock n' roll big in the mainstream again?
I've
actually seen some local bands that blow me away more than
the ones in the mainstream right now. Rock needs a comeback
in a major way. I don?t want my rock watered down, I want the real
thing.
What do you think rock n' roll is missing today? Soul
What is your definition rock n' roll?
Rock
n Roll is liberation. It's a way to express yourself and be heard.
It's filled with passion, lust, love, sex, anger, betrayal and
every emotion possible. We sing about life and we write about
what touches us and makes us who we are.
There are also so many
other bands I would have liked to have added but that's what
makes rock n roll so wonderful. It?s the variety and the talent
that is out there on so many different levels. It's universal.
Any last words or thoughts about rock n roll? I'd
die without it!
