B.A. Baracus - Self Titled

B.A. Baracus B.A. Baracus is a true rock n' roll band. The band's self titled debut is filled with classic 60's & 70's influences of rock gods like the Mc5, Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, New Bomb Turks & Black Crowes. Packed with great catchy guitar hooks and beats that get the girls stomping their feet and the guys with their fists in air chanting for more... added with a great solid vocalist that sings straight from heart, B.A. Baracus is one of Ohio's best rock band of the new millennium.

The band's sound is fuel injected 70's rock with touch of 60's garage. The band is a new testament to rock n' roll. B.A. Baracus is carrying the tourch of true rock and passing to the new generation of rock fans.

Review from: Black Angel Promotions

Formed in 2001 in Columbus, Ohio, four guys came together to create pure Rock N' Roll in the style of their influences....The Rolling Stones, MC5, Iggy Pop and The Black Crowes. The end result is a debut self-titled release that rocks every bit as hard and carries all of the heart and energy, but with an updated production.

The album opens with attitude with "The Jump Off" and pulls you in right away. Each song is upbeat to mid-tempo and makes you want to move. The production is good along with a good mix. The band was going for a 1960's garage rock production here. It's good and clear with just enough dirt and swagger to clue you in. Productions like this are always a good way for the band to convey energy and hint at their live capability.

Great old rock guitar licks are everywhere! Bass lines constantly roll under the songs. The vocals touch ground with Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop and Chris Robinson. The most impressive aspect of B. A. Baracus is their attitude. On disc, all of their angles, ideas and heart shine through. And that's hard to get across! They come in like a barrage of dirty guitar-rock with a slight sneer and giving a huge middle finger to corporate rock, nu metal, rap and hip hop. You gotta love a band with balls.

The punk Black Crowes' Could there be such a thing' Should there be such a thing' Don’t think too much about that, baby, just lie back and let it happen. Columbus, Ohio’s BA Baracus (what kinda world are we living in when I have to tell people who BA was' I pity the fool that ain’t hip to BA Baracus) mix the sloe gin blooze of the Robinson bros with high-flying Midwestern punk rock to great effect here, crafting hand-clapping (and occasionally head-busting) punk n’ roll anthems with a healthy shot of soul, glitter n’ sin. And much like their namesake, BAB don’t fuck around, either – there’s only ten tracks here, the last one an acid-free cover of the MC5’s “American Ruse”. Get in, get out, leave ‘em legless and satisfied. That’s the BA Baracus way. Pure rock n’ roll action, no jibber jabber.

Review from: Scannerzine.com

Explosive, gum-chewin', bourbon-swillin', shootin'-from-the-hip rock 'n' roll that takes a classic vintage sound and mashes it up with today's energy. Think STONES, MC5, BIRDMAN and the FACES played with the attitude and thrust of the ZEROS, CRUMBS, BEASTS OF BOURBON and early 'MATS and topped with a liberal sprinkling of the HEARTBREAKERS. This is just pure rock 'n' roll played low and played with verve. Every song hits the spot. The quartet comes from Columbus, Ohio and this is the band's 10-song debut. Highlights have to be party buzz of '1983' and the anthemic 'Git Yers'. Neat 'American Ruse' cover too. Definitely a party record by a band that no doubt sounds great in a tiny, sweaty club - just like all real rock 'n' roll bands!

Review from: Razorcake Magazine

Ten songs of pretty damn good hard rock/garage punk from Columbus, OH. Much better than most bands that play this style since they know when to let off the gas and let the songs groove a little. Fans of Bad Wizard, Hellacopters, New Bomb Turks, Spitfires & Electric Frankenstein are gonna wanna be all over this.
