Hello Once Again,
Nikki SuddenThis months news update is on the sad side of things. Rock n' roll legend NIKKI SUDDEN passed away in the morning on Sunday March 26, 2006, in New York City. Another great has gone to rock n' roll heaven. But his music will live on. Thank you Nikki for all the great music you left us to carry in our hearts. Sympathy and condolences go to Nikki's family. Please take the time and check out Nikki Sudden's official website @ www.nikkisudden.com

Also this month news... the Chinatown CD release was going to be release this month, but there was a little delay on the pressing. The release date has been pushed to MAY 2nd.

Sonic DrewThis month I've added a feature for my 13 year old son "Sonic" Drew's school report on censorship, that he received an A+ on! Which I'm very proud of. Please take the time look at it. It's great to see a young mind fighting for what's right.

This month's Sonic Babe is BENEDICTE BRAENDEN from Oslo, Norway. She is the lead vocalist for the Bazooka Boppers. They are an all female rock band, 70's inspired glam/punk rock, Runaways meets New York Dolls with a touch of AC/DC. Their debut CD will be released on Sonic Swirl Records this Spring! Benedicte also has a solo career in country music. This Sonic Babe is a true rocker in every way!

Final news... Sonic Swirl has another show this month at the Beachland! Friday April 14th, 9:30 pm. All ages. Featuring WELCOME TO BANGKOK, B.A. BARACUS from Columbus, Ohio, and also DOWNTOWN DAGGERS.
Rock on!

It's March and still cold in Cleveland...
Cold is good... it keeps me indoors to work more on the label. We now now the order of the next three releases for this Spring. First, we are going to finally release the CHINATOWN self titled CD release. This Vancouver based band rocks til it hurts. Chinatown rocks long the lines of The Faces, old Aerosmith, New York Dolls, Dogs D'Amour and Guns N' Roses. It's a great mix of 70's glam rock and 80's hard rock. This will be Sonic Swirl's 35th release! Release date: March 28th, 2006

Sonic Swirl's 36th release will be Phoenix, Arizona's WHITE DEMONS. The CD is titled "Say Go" and it is 10 tracks of pure rock n' roll mayhem! This band features TONY KRANK, the founder of Krank Amps. Krank Amps were endorsed by Dimebag Darrell Abbott (R.I.P. in rock n' roll heaven) and are also endorsed by great guitarists like Damon Johnson of Alice Cooper, Scruff and Pete of The Adicts, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Tommy Victor of Danzig, Flattus Maximus and BalSac the Jaws of Death from Gwar and many more! The White Demons' big rock sound has been compared to AC/DC, The Cult, Buckcherry, Rose Tattoo and Dead Boys. Great High Energy Rock! Art for this release will be done by Cleveland artest Jon Hicks. Jon Hicks works @ the Beachland Ballroom and you can catch his art on the walls for upcoming rock shows. Jon's art has helped the Cleveland rock scene with eye catching concert posters. Jon Hicks has created amazing rock posters for Jame Gang (reunion with all original members), Acid Mother Temple, Built To Spill, The Brain Jonestown Massacre and many others. You can find samples of Jon Hicks art on MySpace. Release date: April 18th, 2006

In WELCOME TO BANGKOK news, the band and I decided to hold off on the April 14th release party. The band had to make a small band change and are still in the studio every night working to their bones. The debut CD titled "Where Ya Want It" will be relased at the end of May or June. We should know more detail next month on an offical release date. The band & I want to make sure everything is finished right with a 100% feeling it's ready to be released. This CD will be worth the wait...

Finally... This month's "Sonic Babe" is a real yummy one from the Far East... Her name is KAYOLI and she's from Japan. Kayoli's love for rock n' roll is proof that rock n' roll makes a good girl go bad... Have fun, she's a killer!

February 2, 2006
Hello my brothers & sisters of rock,
It's a busy time of the year for Sonic Swirl Records. We've been working hard on our next two releases with Welcome To Bangkok and White Demons. Welcome To Bangkok is still in the studio working on the guitar solos and all vocals. They are taking a break from playing out live until the record is finished. We just comfirmed a CD release party for Welcome To Bangkok, April 14th @ the Beachland. Columbus, Ohio's (also Sonic Swirl artist) B.A. Baracus will be on the bill, the rest is not comfirmed yet.

Speaking of B.A. Baracus. If you have not seen this band live yet, you must check them out. The band has been kicking around for a few years with their 60's/70's soulful rock sound. People compare them to MC5 meets Black Crowes with a touch of James Brown. Great rockin' stuff! They are recording their debut release which is scheduled to drop around May/June. You can hear their music on MySpace.

The White Demons CD is almost completed. The only thing left to finish is the artwork. All art will be done by Jon Hicks from Cleveland. I found Jon Hicks art on the walls of The Beachland Ballroom. Jon is a very talented artist! I'm looking forward to working with him on this project, If need any graphics and layouts for print and web, you can contact Jon Hicks @ mindfield007@yahoo.com

This month's "Sonic Babe" is Joey from Melbourne, Australia. She's a hot rockin' babe in ever way! She's also the lead vocalist for DOLLSQUAD, an all female garage rock band that kicks most bands in the ass... Check out their offical site @ http://www.geocities.com/dollsquad_rock/

Last of our news this month... We are finally going to put out a Sonic Swirl Records T-shirt!!! That's right. I have been talking about this for the last year, but now it's in the works! The t-shirt art will be done by out own Sonic Swirl artist, Roland Napoli. If you hate rap music and love Rock N' Roll this is the t-shirt for you. We should have t-shirt on sale by end of March...

Rock on!

Congratulations to Raine, the Sonic Swirl Babe of the Year for 2005! Raine won the contest hands down. Thanks goes out to all of those that voted for their favorite Sonic Babe of 2005. Check out Raine's page.

December 4, 2005
Happy Holidays!!!
Thanks to everyone who has supported Sonic Swirl Records this year. It was a good year for Scooter & I. Some how we pulled off five releases for the year! It was loads of fun working with all the bands. I'd like to thank everybody who came out to support our shows and bands.

Scooter and I decided to show how much we care about people who support Sonic Swirl and independent music... we are offering buy 2 CDs at full price and get 1 FREE!!! When making a PayPal payment, please write the three CD titles in the message box. If mailing your payment, just write down the titles as well. It's that simple!

In other news, the White Demons are completing their album and waiting on artwork to send off for pressing. Also, Welcome To Bangkok is about finish with their new CD. Both should be out in stores by February-March.

Hillbilly Nightmare is now looking for a new lead vocalist! If you live around the Grand Rapids area, send an e-mail to Sonic Swirl and we will hook you up with the band for an audition. If you are wondering what happened with Hillbilly Nightmare's lead vocalist... all I can say is that he was not on the same page with the band and more into working sound for crappy bands than being in a kick-ass rock band.

Horror Of 59 has been busy with shows in and out of Cleveland. The next few months they will be writing new songs and recording for future compilation releases for other rockin' labels. The band has been getting alot of great feedback on their debut release "Screams From The Cellar" on Sonic Swirl. We are looking for for second full length CD release by the end of summer 2006.

Last of all... there will be a Sonic Swirl Christmas party this year at the
Beachland Tavern on Sat. Dec. 17th, 9:00 PM. Only $5.00! The bands for this rockin' holiday bash will be WELCOME TO BANGKOK, The SUBTONES, NOT SO GOOD OLE BOYS and newcomers Downtown Daggers. This will also be a party for all my good friends at 252 Tattoo. Please come and support all the bands...

Scooter and I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!
Mike Swirl

November 8, 2005
Thanksgiving is near, Christmas is around the corner, and Halloween passed by like a bat out of hell. Sonic Swirl's 'Monster A Go-Go' Halloween party was a total blast this year. If you were at the party and had your camera, please send us your photos for the site. We should have some photos from the party up very soon. Thanks to all three bands that played... A-10s, Horror Of 59 and Welcome To Bangkok.

Speaking of Welcome To Bangkok. This band from Cleveland totally kicked Scooter & I in the ass hard the first time we saw them live. We both wanted this band on Sonic Swirl. The band and Sonic Swirl worked out a record deal last month. The band will release their debut in February or March of 2006. They are working very hard on the album now and gigging in and out of town. They are a great bunch of guys and a very hard working band.

Other news... Scooter & I decided to hold off releasing any more stuff for 2005. We both need a small break to focus on the five releases we put out this year. For 2006 there are already four release in the works. Welcome to Bangkok, Chinatown (from Vancouver, B.C.), Tennessee Outlaws (Sweden) and White Demons (AZ). Tennessee Outlaws recorded their album, but the studio lost all the masters! The band has been working on re-recording the album the last few months as well as being on the road playing all the big fests in Sweden. As for the White Demons, they are finishing up their album. It's almost ready to go except for the artwork. The White Demons have been a secret for the most part. I've been talking back and forth with them on a record deal, and it looks like we both came to an agreement. Next month I'll have alot more info on White Demons. Maybe even a MP3 if you're lucky! Also more info on Welcome To Bangkok.

Until then, keep rocking!
Mike Swirl

October 3, 2005
It's Halloween season! My favorite holiday of the year!

The Space Cowboys - "Dead End Streets & Devil's Night"Scooter & I just released two new CDs this month. The first is one of Sweden's finest bands, The Space Cowboys. It is finally ready to be unleashed after a long year in the works. It was every bit worth the wait! The band's new release is titled "Dead End Streets & Devil's Night" and is thirteen tracks of action filled, high-energy punk rock n' roll. This CD is all killer with no filler. Must for any Sweden rock fans, like old school Hellacopters, Backyard Babies and the Nomads. Also for fans of New Bomb Turks & Iggy & the Stooges. For more info on The Space Cowboys and three MP3s click on the album cover...

Horror of 59Also this month and just in time for Halloween, Cleveland's finest horror punk rock band Horror of 59 release their monster debut CD titled "Screams From The Cellar". It is thirteen tracks of American punk rock with the horror theme. Creeping around sound of the Misfits and Ramones, Horror of 59 is sure to become one the best in horror rock. For more info & MP3s click on the album cover...

This month's "Sonic Babe" is Jane Erik from Hollywood, CA. Make sure to check back each month to see the next Sonic Babe.

If you think you have what it takes to be a "Sonic Babe" please send some photos and answer our standard questionnaire. Email to: info@sonicswirlrecords.com

Also on our Sonic Swirl Photos page there are new photos from The Makers show in Cleveland at The Beachland Tavern. Also photos from Horror of 59 CD release party... which we would like to thank all the people coming out to support local music scene.

ChinatownLast of all, Sonic Swirl signed another band from Vancouver BC. This time it's CHINATOWN. This well be the band's debut. Last year Atlantic Records were looking to sign Chinatown, but told the band we will be watching you for a few years to see how things develop. That really meant waiting to see if the band's sound would hit main stream. Which it will not, because it's pure real straight up rock n' roll. The band's sound is mixed with 70's glam and 80's hard rock but has an updated sound as well. Chinatown can get the young girls up and screaming and the guys with their fists in the air. Sonic Swirl is proud to work with this sleaze rock machine. The band is just finishing up on the art and the CD will be released in first of December. Chinatown's sound is compared to The Faces, old Aerosmith, New York Doll, Dogs D'Amour and Guns N Roses. Also, for you Spitfires fans out there, this CD was recorded and produced by Jason Solyom (lead vocalist for the Spitfires). Killer job Jason! I'll have mp3s next month...

Happy Halloween and rock on!
Mike Swirl

September 6, 2005
Hello rockers!
Fist filled of news for September!
First we have a new page to the site called "SONIC BABE!" Each month Sonic Swirl will feature a rockin' babe, that's not only good looking but lives for rock n' roll. We will have a standard questionnaire about rock n' roll. Also have least four to six sexy photos of the "Sonic Babe of the Month". At the end of the year 2006 we well have a vote for the Sonic Babe of the year! This month's first Sonic babe is Raine from Canada. Please do check this page every month...!

Horror of 59In music news... Scooter & I worked out a record deal with our first Cleveland band since the 90's. New addition to the Sonic Swirl family is HORROR OF 59. Straight ahead American punk rock. The band's sound is a cross between The Misfits and Ramones. Horror 0f 59 draws from the whole history of seventies and eighties punk, sixties garage rock, fifties rock 'n' roll, and even a little bit of metal. Lyrically, the band is inspired not just by horror films, but by real life horrors and local ghost stories and legends of their northeast Ohio stomping grounds.

Horror of 59's debut full length CD "SCREAM FROM THE CELLAR" will be released in October of 2005. The album features 13 tracks of terror, and a cover by artist extraordinare "Big Tony" O'Farrell". To celebrate this momentous occasion, we'll be throwing a CD release party at The Beachland Tavern in Cleveland, OH on Saturday October 1st. Sharing the bill with us will be Missouri garage rockers Thee Fine Lines, also Kill The Hippies and The Driven High. Show starts around 9PM. Admission is only $5.00, 18 & over. Please come out and support your local bands and clubs!

The Space Cowboys are completed with their new full length, to be released in October. The Swedish rockers worked really hard over one year on this album. After being recorded a few times with different producers, the Space Cowboys finally found the sound they were looking for... raw & dirty. It's an amazing release that is a cross between Hellacopters, New Bomb Turks & Iggy & The Stooges. The band & I decided to hold off on the U.S. tour next year do to rising gas prices and the release coming too close end of the year. Hopefully they'll have another CD out by summer 2006, then a fall tour in the U.S.

Hillbilly Nightmare been busy playing gig after gig... including their upcoming shows. Friday September 9th with The Last Vegas from Chicago at Beachland Ballroom. October 9th at Peabodys in Cleveland with Nashville Pussy & Zeke. Also September 16th at Ten Bells in Grand Rapids, MI with Black Halos, Supergroup & others. For complete listing go to www.myspace.com/hillbillynightmare

Scooter & I would like to thank all the bands taking care of us at the shows and all the cool rockin' people we meet that had great times with... and of course for buying us rounds of beers! Cheers! Scooter & I been out & about around Cleveland seeing some killer Cleveland rock. Some bands that we love and think you should check live or on the net are: Amps 2 Eleven, A-Tens (A-10s), Welcome To Bangkok, Horror Of 59, Living Stereo, Subtones, B.A. Baracus, Lords Of The Highway, Uncle Scratch, Soulless, Disengage, Abdullah, Cobra Verda and Dozen Dead Roses!

Speaking of Dozen Dead Roses...
There's been some negative talk about this outstanding band. Yeah, Dozen Dead Roses may have some attitude but they can back it up! They have the look & talent. They deliver the goods every time I see them live. There's one thing I hate is when some body comes up to me and talks bad about a band that works hard & are trying to make things happen here in Cleveland. People can talk a lot of shit about who's cool or not cool, good or not. I like who I like and there's no way I'll let people influence me the way I feel about local music. I like to help as much as I can with the local scene. I will not get in the middle of any problems in the local scene, such as ex band members pissed at each other, band's that do not get along with others or just negative talk about about any band is trying to make things happen. I've dealt with this problem for many years, it's a problem that well never go away. On positive side I do see bands do get along better today than the 80's & 90's. I think a lot of good rock is coming out of Cleveland these days, but the scene is not at it's best. That's because people need to get out more to shows and support local bands, clubs and labels!
Stay cool & rock on! Mike Swirl

Summer is here rockers!
Loads of good news this month... first I'd like to mention some BIG news right off the bat. Since 1994 I have been running Sonic Swirl all by myself. It is loads of work for one person. I'm getting older and more things are going on in my life besides music. I decided to team up with a partner. This way I can provide more releases with alot of work taken off of my shoulders.

John "Scooter" LincolnMy partner is John "Scooter" Lincoln. Scooter is all about music. It's in his blood. He lives for it. Scooter has been in the music scene for over 20 years. He's been in a ton of bands, and has played with all the top players around Cleveland at one time or another. Scooter has worked with me in past with all the local shows I booked in the 90's at the Euclid Tavern, Speak In Tongues & other rock clubs. Scooter will be a big part of Sonic Swirl, especially in the local Cleveland scene.

At this time I like to mention also other people who been big part of Sonic Swirl. Keith Voracek has worked with me on graphics layout for the releases and makes sure all the spects are right. I'd like to thank Joe & Christine from Monolith Graphics for all the killer artwork they've done in the past. Roland Napoli for the killer art that is coming out on next few releases. Also Kurt Krejny for putting up with my shit the most. Kurt designed my killer looking website that he keeps updated for me when I ask him. I love to give him a hard time, but I'm lucky to have him helping me out.

Hillbilly Nightmare's CD titled "Dirt Rock Demons" is mailed to New York for pressing. The release date is still set for the 26th of August. I'll have a few mp3s up in a couple of weeks. The Space Cowboys release has been pushed back to the end of August. The release date is due to the finishing touches on the cover art.

Final news! My first show I have booked in over 5 years!

June 1, 2005
Tennessee OutlawsHappy June Rockers! Summer is just about here and it is the season for releases! I'm happy to announce that Sonic Swirl Records has a struck a deal with another Swedish rock band called TENNESSEE OUTLAWS. Sonic Swirl will debut this band's first album. Tennessee Outlaws are what rock is all about... Their sound lies between Iggy & The Stooges and New Bomb Turks with a touch of the Hives. With a great high-end guitar sound with ripping leads and solos, and hard driving beats with a strong vocalist top it off, the Tennessee Outlaws will hit the studio this summer and produce a spankin' new release by September/October 2005.In other news! The SPACE COWBOYS CD titled "Royal Experience" and HILLBILLY NIGHTMARE's "Dirt Rock Demons" CD will both be released on July 26th 2005. Artist Roland Napoli will be doing art for both releases. In the beginning of July I'll have a couple of MP3s from Hillbilly Nightmare. For more info on both bands please read below... Until then Rock on!
Hillbilly NightmareApril 23, 2005
Sonic Swirl has great news once again! Another record deal has been made with HILLBILLY NIGHTMARE. Hillbilly Nightmare are from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band was formed in the summer of 2003 and within a short time the band developed a sound they like to call "Dirt Rock." The band's sound has been compared to Motorhead, Nashville Pussy, Supersuckers and the Hellacopters.

They developed a very strong fan base throughout Michigan with their fast paced, hard edge, high energy Rock N' Roll! Their unique sound led to opening for band's like Black Halos, Dirty Americans and other national acts. It was then time for the band to head into the studio to record their debut.

I'm thrilled that I have the chance to work with Hillbilly Nightmare. They are putting the finishing touches at the studio and working on the cover art. The Band and Sonic Swirl Records are looking to release this album in June or July... stay tuned for more news!

The Space CowboysGreat news rockers!
Sonic Swirl just signed a record deal with The SPACE COWBOYS from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band came together back in 1996. They started out as a trio (now a full four piece rockin' machine). The three young wayward miscreants were inspired by their collection of Motorhead, Ramones, Kiss, Iggy and The Stooges and Dead Boys records.

Within a short time the band launch seven releases around the world including U.S., Australia, Spain, France, Austria and the U.K. All of which sold out their first pressing at the speed of lighting. The band was also featured on handful on compilations, including "Fistful Of Rock" volume 8.

The Space Cowboys built world wide fan base with their hard work. They even got positive reviews from Kerrang magazine (one of U.K.'s biggest music magazines). Also the band found its way onto John Peels radio show.

The band will head into the studio February/March of 2005 to finish recording their new full length CD titled "ROYAL EXPERIECE." The CD will be released at the end of Spring 200 and will feature art by Roland Napoli (www.hotrodhotties.com). The Space Cowboys also plan to do a North America tour this summer! Listen to some killer rock n' roll from the band's past - check their website at www.thespacecowboys.com

Rock on!
